A main objective of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council is to develop the researches on nanotechnology sciences at the Iranian universities. Therefore, the Council supports financially the university students at higher levels, whose theses are in the field of nanotechnology. The financial grants are given at three different levels (depending on the research level and subject), in two stages to the university students and the advising professors. .
The registration takes place online in the INIC databank. The databank includes information about all Iranian researchers, and it is available to all researchers. Such mechanism prevents repeated researches.
Supporting Nano-Related Article publication:
In addition to supporting the university students theses, the INIC supports financially other research activities such as presenting ISI articles, presenting articles in the international conferences, and patenting inventions in the EPO and USPTO . The purpose of the grants is to encourage and to motivate the researchers to produce science and technology.
Supporting Training Courses for the University Students:
The Council supports the universities that admit PhD students and/or hold PhD courses in the field of nanotechnology. More than 10 universities hold MS and PhD courses in the various fields of nanotechnology.
The manner in which Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council supports the universities that hold PhD courses is as follow:
• Facilitating the cooperation between universities and the foreign research institutes;
• Facilitating the relation between universities and the industry in the field of nanotechnology;
• Paying for transport, residence, and current expenses of the invited foreign professors;
• Paying the invited foreign professors fee;
• Covering the expenses of the research journeys of the university students to the foreign countries;
• Covering the expenses of the journeys of the Iranian professors in order to supervise their students work.
In addition to the abovementioned, the INIC supports the university students forums, educational workshops, and scientific visits to nanotechnology centres. The INIC intends to establish University Students Club to enable the young researchers to communicate more in the field of nanotechnology.
Strengthening Course For Nanotechnology-Related
Development of nanotechnology is not possible
without hiring and using the experiences of capable human resources. The
current educational system in Iran provides the students with a part of education
required for increasing the capability of human resources. However, these
courses cannot solely train the necessary human resources required for
nanotechnology development. Therefore, it is necessary for the students to
receive other important trainings in a way that in addition to strengthening
the students, it demonstrates a bright future for nanotechnology in Iran. To
this end, Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council organizes Nanotechnology Human
Resources Strengthening Courses in the first year of higher levels of education
for the students who study in nanotechnology-related fields and majors. The aim
of the courses is to introduce to the students the materials required for
successfully paving the path towards nanotechnology.
The organization of these courses began in
2012 in Iran in order to strengthen students for obtaining success in studying
and their careers and to help them with choosing appropriate research subjects.
The subjects presented in the courses are as follows.
• Workshops on entrepreneurship,
commercialization, and intellectual property
Sharing the experience of successful
nanotechnology entrepreneurs with
• Sharing the experience of successful nanotechnology theses based on the needs of industries.
• Introducing the programs of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council.
